Cadwell Next for Formula Vintage

After two fantastic meetings at Silverstone and Oulton Park, the Vintage Sports-Car Club’s Formula Vintage season moves on to Cadwell Park for round three on Sunday 23rd July.

Last year saw the VSCC celebrate 40-years of racing at the famous Lincolnshire venue – known as the UK’s ‘Mini Nurburgring’ – and the VSCC’s pre-war and historic programme will headline once more this summer, with the historic Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophies, featuring the traditional races for Vintage, Pre-1961 and Pre-war Sports-Cars.

The day’s title Shuttleworth, Nuffield & Len Thompson Trophies race will feature a quartet of celebrated ERAs set to return to their spiritual Lincolnshire home. The Bourne-based machinery were the leading British challengers in early Grand Prix during the 1930s and continue to lead the way in historic club racing today.

They will star alongside a stunning array of racing and road-going machinery from a truly golden era of motorsport, with celebrated manufacturers such as Alta, Alvis, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Riley, Talbot and Wolseley all represented across a thrilling 12-race programme.

Besides the traditional Formula Vintage line-up, the day will also feature a number of the club’s other special events, including the prestigious Spero & Voiturette Trophies race for small capacity racing cars, the annual race for Frazer Nash and GN machinery and the popular Triple-M Register MG vs Austin 7 Challenge.

Ever-popular All-Comers Scratch and Handicap formats will complete the exciting pre-war programme whilst further complementing the day’s VSCC content, with the regular series joined by the 500 Owners Association and the Morgan Challenge Race Series for their own invited events.

Aside from the exciting action on track, Formula Vintage will again offer spectators all that is great about attending a VSCC race meeting, with free access to the paddock, where you can get up-close to the cars and drivers, as well as a host of other vintage-themed entertainment for the whole family.

As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 90th Anniversary for 1927 Frazer Nashes the VSCC are hosting a special display of those cars celebrating their landmark year; in addition to a static display within the paddock, these cars will also be take part in a parade of the track during the lunch break.

All Spectators arriving in a pre-war car will be invited to park in a dedicated parking area at the bottom of The Mountain, with each car entered into a free Concours competition – the winner will take away a bottle of bubbly and a pair of tickets to a forthcoming VSCC event at the end of the day.

For those looking for a break from the racing action, a Vintage Airstream stage will be providing live music throughout the day in the Paddock so why not pull up a Vintage deckchair and watch Swing Gitan, playing 1930s jazz and The Washboard Resonators, playing guitar, banjo and washboard music from the street corners of America in the 20s, 30s & 40s.

Younger visitors will also enjoy Oulton Park’s motorsport-themed adventure playground with equipment for children of all ages from toddler to 14. This is located next to the clubhouse and bar, which will be open all day offering hot/cold food and drink, including breakfast, lunch and light snacks during the afternoon.
