This Weekend: Kielder, Donington, Brands Hatch or Biarritz?

So, where would be this weekend? In the UK it is another Bank Holiday weekend and there is plenty to choose fromwith  historic rallying in the forests of north Yorkshire, the Donington Historic Festival in the Midlands and some gems tucked away at Brands Hatch in the MGCC’s meting which features not only MGs but the Equipe GTS field for four races.

Round three of the British Historic Rally Championship sees Escort crew Nick Elliott and Dave Price looking to take their third win of the season. The cars are running as part of the Pirelli International Rally and are due to leave Rally HQ in Carlisle at 8am on Saturday morning, and in an intense morning of action return for 12.30pm. Please check the event website for details of spectating opportunities: www.pirelliinternationalrally.co.uk.

The Donington Historic Festival provides a wealth of historic race action with single seaters, saloons and sports cars in action. Today is exclusively qualifying and the race action starts at 09.10 tomorrow morning as the ever-entertaining Formula Juniors take to the track, with a 90-minute race for pre-’72 prototype, touring and GT cars closing the opening day’s action starting at 17.50.

Sunday features another nine races starting with a two-hour enduro for pre-66 GTs and pre-63 sports cars at 09.10 with the weekend concluding with another Formula Junior race at 18.05. With ample racing and plenty to see in the paddock – it should be a good weekend.

Alternatively, as we mentioned Brands Hatch could be worth a visit while in France the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo continues heading towards the Biarritz finish on Sunday.
