Gallery: Porsche 917s at the Festival of Speed

It is 50-years since Porsche's 917 heralded the arrival of a classic era of sportscar racing, and a superb collection of the cars are at Goodwood this weekend to mark that anniversary.
A number are in the iconic Gulf livery worn by the JWA team in 1970 and 71, the team successful in the World CHampionship but never managing to take a Le Mans win with one of thier 917s, although in other hands the car was a winner in the 24-hour classic. The 1970 Le Mans was won by the 917K of Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann, the red and white number 23 in our gallery, the first outright win of many for Porsche in the race.
