This Weekend: The Pom at Silverstone and Formula 5000 plus Touring Cars in New Zealand

A couple of widely-spaced choices are the highlights in the historic world this weekend, with the VSCC’s much-loved Pomeroy Trophy taking place at Silverstone, while at the Teretonga Park circuit in New Zealand the popular F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series and Historic Touring Car fields are in action - the final outing of the season for the Tourers.

This is the 65th running of the VSCC’s ‘Pom’, a unique event with possibly the most eclectic field of cars for any UK motorsport event. The day starts with a series of driving ‘tests’ while in the afternoon there is a track session for each car with a target time to be maintained - at the end of the day the winner could come from anywhere in the 100 car plus entry.

The tests start at 09.00 on Saturday morning, spectator entry is free, and with cars in action ranging from a 1917 Hudson Super Six via a swathe of lovely pre-war machinery to BMWs, Mazdas and even a Ford GT40, the Pomerory Trophy is a great start to the British historic season!

If you have access to an aircraft, or are handily already in New Zealand, the the Teretonga meeting should be a great weekend, check out out our full previews here:
