The Historic Sports Car Club will bring together a group of former Sports 2000 drivers at Race Retro, the international historic motorsport show, at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry this week, Friday 20th February to Sunday 22nd. As Race Retro marks the focal point for the start of the forthcoming historic racing season, the HSCC will stage an eight-car display in ‘Speed Street’ in the event’s main hall (Hall 2, stand D36).
One of cars on show will be the Royale S2000M of Mike Johns, which will be promoting a stand-alone Historic Sports 2000 race during this year’s Croft Nostalgia Weekend (8/9 August). The 30-minute race is the result of a new collaboration between the HSCC and the Sports Racing Car Club and it will be a round of the SRCC’s Historic Sports 2000 Championship for pre-1983 Sports 2000s.
To mark the HSCC’s involvement in Historic Sports 2000, former category drivers have been invited to meet at Race Retro at 12 noon on Friday. One of the instigators of the celebration is HSCC Vice-Chairman Chris Alford, who raced in Sports 2000 during the early years of the category in the late 1970s.
Race Retro is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Friday and Saturday and and from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
