There widely different categories of demonstration classes delighted the crowds at the 74th Goodwood Member's Meeting, with the popular Super Tourers first out on Saturday reminding the large crowd of the heyday of the BTSS in the 1990s when a host of manufacturer teams made the series one of the leading saloon championships in the world.
Nest out where the Group 5 sportscars - featuring a fine collection of Porsche 917s, Ferrari 512s and Lola T70s that more than one spectator declared they had waited a long time to see.
The Ground-Effects era Formula One cars reminded everyone of that period when Formula One cars were almost literally stuck to the track as the underbody design and side skirts produced prodigious amounts of down force and grip.
