It has been reported that the Donington Collections museum at Donington Park will be closing on Sunday 5th of November. For many years the sole dedicated motorsport museum in the UK, it was started 45-years ago by Tom Wheatcroft, who bought the Donington Park circuit in 1970 and moved his car collection to the site.
Tom Wheatcroft died in 2009, with the museum in the hands of son Kevin since then, the collection bolstered by Kevin’s collection of military vehicles.
Several cars from the collection have in recent years been taken off display and the value of some cars on the open market will now be very much more than when they were acquired. There has at the moment been given no indication of the intended fate of the cars in the motorsport collection.
