The first of two qualifying sessions today for the Group C field at Le Mans saw Ivan Vercoutere (Ivan was credited by the time-sheets but the smart money is on co-driver Ralf Kelleners actually setting that time...) quickest in his Porsche 962C, the 1990 car just sneaking into the C1A category and outpacing the C3A Peugeot 905 Ev1 Bis of Erik Marais - the use of the dial to crank up the turbo boost in the 962 cannot be ruled out!

Five cars ducked under four-minutes. the lead duo joined by the Lendoudis/Aguas Mercedes Benz, the always quick Michael Lyons’ Gebhardt, and the Campagne/Kalff Spice SE92. The session was interrupted by a slow zone when Richard Meins retired his Jaguar XJR-8 early on.

Philiipe Scemama was quickest Group C2 car in a superb tenth overall, almost 14 seconds quicker than the rest of the class.
