The Daytona 24 Hours first ran in 1966 and since then, despite reverting to a six-hour race in 1972, has become one of the classic sportscar events attracting the top drivers from both the US and Europe as well as a host of classic cars over the years. Held on the daunting Daytona oval and infield circuit at the Florida venue, the race provides a stern test with it's date early n the year meaning more night running than in June's Le Mans 24-Hours.
Historically Porsche dominate the list of winning manufacturers. with 18-wins as car and engine builder and four as engine supplier, dwarfing second-placed Ford who have powered the winning car six times. This weekend sees the 55th running of the event, and photographer Jakob Ebrey took time out rorm covering the track action to send us these pictures of some of the cars on display nt he busy infield.
